Cheryl Cole goes without makeup for new L’Oréal campaign
We’re more used to seeing her with perfectly coiffed hair, carefully applied foundation, a heavy smoky eye and long fluttering eyelashes. But superstar Cheryl Cole has recently gone barefaced for L’Oréal Paris’s new skincare campaign, starring in a promotional video and photo shoot with no foundation or concealer to promote the brand’s new Skin Perfection range.
Her usual heavily made up look is completely gone as Cheryl looks completely pared back and natural in the behind the scenes video. The former Girls Aloud star says that she (understandably) thought she would be anxious about not wearing foundation on a photo shoot, but that it actually felt liberating to be able to show off her natural skin and freckles without covering them up or having them photoshopped out.
Cheryl’s makeup was kept to the absolute bare minimum for the photo shoot – just a sweep of mascara and natural-coloured lip gloss – but still manages to look glowing. She says that this is all down to L’Oréal’s Skin Perfection Magic Touch Instant Blur, which is the only product she was wearing on her skin.
Cheryl told Vogue magazine: “Literally all I had on was the Blur Cream and some mascara. So when they showed me the video I was watching it through my hands! I’m really happy with it though. It’s actually quite liberating to feel like, ‘you know what, like it or not, this is what the cream does to your face and this is how I look’.”
Speaking behind the scenes of the photo shoot, the 30 year old singer admits that until now she’d never really worried about looking after her skin, feeling that products such as wrinkle creams weren’t right for her lifestyle and her skin type. However, Cheryl praises L’Oréal’s new Skin Perfection range, saying “this was the perfect product to be advertising because it’s more preparing your skin before you reach that stage.”
The Skin Perfection range was designed for the under 35s market in particular; women who are keen to start taking better care of their skin but aren’t ready to start using anti-ageing or wrinkle-diminishing products. The range seeks to combat a multitude of skin problems, claiming to be able to transform skin, combat redness, even out skin tone and reduce the appearance of pores.
There are five products in the Skin Perfection face care range, and nine in the Skin Perfection cleansing range. Speaking to Vogue magazine, Cheryl says that her favourite product is the Skin Perfection Advanced Serum, which helps boost skin hydration and refine the skin’s texture. Cheryl also highly rates the Skin Perfection 5 in 1 BB Cream (available in ‘fair’ and ‘medium’ shades) for those days when a little more coverage is required – it has SPF 25 skin care protection and also provides lightweight coverage for a healthy-looking glow. The product she wears in the advert is the Skin Perfection Magic Touch Instant Blur; it claims to blur the appearance of shine, pores and skin irregularities, creating a soft-focus ‘photoshopped’ finish and the perfect base to be worn on its own or under makeup.
Other products in the face care range include a Day Moisturiser and Awakening Eye Cream. The cleansing range comprises of a Cleansing Oil, a Micellar Water, a Toner, a Cleansing Milk, Gel Washes and Cleansing Wipes.
All the Skin Perfection products are packed with L’Oréal Paris’s patented skin correcting molecule LR 2412 and Perline-P – a pore-reducing agent. This is Cheryl’s first skin care advert for L’Oréal, and is part of the brand’s new ‘skin confidence’ campaign – it promises to grant you ‘pixel-perfect’ skin that will look as good as Cheryl’s, negating the need for heavy foundations or concealers even in front of the camera.
