The Perfect Everyday Makeup Look

We all know; Makeup can be your best friend or your worst enemy. You wear your make up for hours, hence it has to be a combination of beautiful, comfortable and resilient. Below you’ll find the perfect products used to achieve a natural everyday makeup look.

Step One: Apply a Tinted Moisturiser

Primer helps makeup go on easier and last longer. Simply dab some onto your fingertips to apply it. Work the primer into your skin wherever you plan on wearing makeup. It’s the easiest way to even out your skin tone is to reach for a tinted moisturizer like Bare Minerals’ Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream, which comes in 20 different shades. This product will give you sheer coverage with the added skincare benefits of a moisturizer throughout the day. Apply it all over your complexion like your regular moisturizer.

Step Two: Conceal

Dab a concealer on any blemishes or dark circles that need a bit more coverage. Choose a pigment-rich formula that isn’t matte or cakey like NARS’ Radiant Creamy Concealer for a seamless, natural finish.  For blemishes, dap the concealer on the spot and blend it using your finger or makeup sponge. As for dark circles, swipe the wand under your eyes and pat it in with your finger or blend it with a makeup sponge. Choose a concealer the same way you would a foundation. Unlike foundation, however, it’s good to pick a concealer that is one or two shades lighter than your natural skin tone. Because it doesn’t have to be exact, testing concealer on your hand can help you narrow down your choices.

Step Three: Apply a warm Blush/Bronzer

Blushes and bronzers are both pigmented powders designed to enhance your skin. Blush is meant to add a healthy, slightly flushed look to your cheeks, while bronzer gives your skin a sun-kissed appearance. For a subtle, natural flush, use a cream blush like Stila’s Convertible Colour in Petunia to warm up the apples of your cheeks. Use your fingers to massage the colour on your skin, or reach for a makeup brush as shown. The bronzed look is a big one right now, and because of the likes of the Kardashian’s, these easy everyday makeup looks mean your makeup routine is a lot shorter.

Step Four: Mascara

Most would choose to forgo everything but their mascara wands. Magically eye-brightening, the impact of mascara is immediate – widening and beautifying eyes with just one coat. From lengthening to volume-boosting, those which perm, ‘plump’ and deliver a ‘false lash’ effect. A few coats of a glossy mascara like Clinique’s will boost your eyelashes. Choose a dark brown shade for a softer finish and apply a couple coats of it on your top lashes, along with a single coat on the roots of your bottom lashes.

Step Five: Highlight

Complete your look with the best highlighter for your skin tone. Warm and metallic, or cool and prismatic, these concentrated chrome and holographic finishes will have you glowing on and on.

  • For medium to dark skin tones, try the metallic highlighter in molten gold.

  • The chrome highlighter in molten rose gold works wonders on light to medium skin tones.

Step Six: Lips

Who doesn’t love a baby-pink pop? We certainly do, and that’s why we fell a little bit in love with this pink lipped look, one of the easy everyday makeup looks you should definitely jump on. You’re going to need to start with a good base, and that means taking care of your pucker-ups! Make sure you always carry a lip balm with you, especially when the weather gets particularly hot, or particularly cold. Try to look for lip products that contain some sort of SPF too – this will help to protect them from the powerful ray of the sun, which can burn you even when it’s not that hot or sunny outside. For everyday makeup, most people like to go with neutral pinks and browns that are closest to their natural lip colour. Others like to add classic red or plum lipstick. Still others eschew colour altogether and simply apply some clear lip gloss or lip balm. It’s up to you to decide what look is right for you.
